Biography

Alexander established his studio in 2002 and has developed furniture and lighting for some of Europe’s leading design manufacturers such as Zanotta, Established & Sons and ClassiCon as well as for producers such as Thorsten van Elten, E&Y and Hitch Mylius. Alexander has also worked on private commissions, most noticeably for Alexander McQueen.

In 2005 Alexander won the Elle Decoration ‘Young Designer of the Year’ and ‘Best in Lighting’ for the family of ‘Fold’ lamps.

Late 2006 it was announced that The Museum of Modern Art, New York acquired the ‘Fold’ lamp for the permanent collection along with the Chicago Institute of Design. Whilst the ‘Butterfly’ table for Zanotta received the Chicago Athenaeum Museum: Good Design Award.

In 2010 Alexander started collaborating with David Gill on a series of new commissions.
